Google

Google’s Chromebook, Chrome web browser, and search engine all definitely have educational applications, but what has Google created especially for students and teachers? Here are some of Google’s top contributions to helping you the most out of your education.

  • Google Apps – email, calendar, documents, and more help student productivity and allow for collaboration with classmates.
  • Google Play for Education – currently in development, this version of Google Play will allow teachers to buy educational apps, videos, and books and instantly share to students’ devices.
  • Flubaroo – allows teachers to grade students’ work, analyze performance, and share grades, for free!
  • Youtube EDU – 700,000 videos used to support teaching and learning in the classroom.

Apple

According to Apple, “Studies show that students who have regular access to technology score higher in writing assignments, demonstrate improved analytical and problem-solving skills, and tend to be more collaborative and engaged.” With that in mind, Apple offers two technology packages to help students excel in the classroom, along with numerous educational apps and an entire educational textbook section in the iBooks marketplace!

  • Apple MacBook Learning Lab – An all-in one kit that includes MacBook Air computers for the entire classroom. The computers include AirPort wireless networking and are held in a mobile cart that charges the computers when not in use.
  • Apple iPad Learning Lab – Much like the MacBook Learning Lab, the iPad Learning Lab includes a set of iPads in a secure mobile cart equipped with a power rack for charging, syncing, and storing the tablets.
